Christine Gwynn

Christine read music at Southampton University and subsequently studied at the Guildhall with Norman Beedie. Her freelance career in music involves her in many aspects of music-making and education within the community. In 1997 Christine became conductor of the Writtle Singers, with whom she has performed a wide variety of music from sacred pieces to operetta and musicals, made two CD recordings, broadcast on BBC Essex and toured in the UK and on the continent. 
Christine is also director of the Valentine Singers, a larger choral group based in Barkingside, and of Tuneful Accord vocal ensemble.  With Anne Fradd, she leads Spectrum Singers, a project-based youth choir.  As well as extensive choral work, Christine’s conducting experience embraces orchestral direction and music theatre. 
Christine lectures in adult education in piano, vocal and other musical studies; she is also in demand as a coach, teacher and choral workshop leader and is currently developing various writing projects.  Further information about Christine’s work (and her cat!) can be found at www.cagmus.org.uk


Caroline Finlay (Piano)
Caroline studied music at Colchester Institute, specialising in performance on piano and flute. She later returned there as staff accompanist, during which time she studied with Paul Hamburger. She has also studied with Victor Morris, of the English National Opera, covering all aspects of the role of the répétiteur. She currently has a career as an accompanist and teacher and accompanied Writtle Singers from January 1999 to April 2004

Robert Poyser (Piano and Organ)
Robert Poyser was born in Gloucester where he was a chorister in the Cathedral Choir under John Sanders and then Sixth Form Organ Scholar with David Briggs. Following this, he studied music at the University of Hull, graduating in 2000 with a first class degree. Whilst at Hull, Robert was Director of Chapel Music, assistant organist at Beverley Minster and also attained his ARCO.
After university, Robert became Organ Scholar at York Minster and later Head of Music at the Minster School. During his time in York, Robert performed widely as a soloist and accompanist with many choirs and groups in the area, including the Ebor Singers, with whom he recorded two CDs.
In 2003 Robert was appointed Assistant Director of Music at Chelmsford Cathedral, a role that includes accompanying the choir in up to seven services a week, conducting the Consort (girls’ choir) and directing the Cathedral Orchestra. Robert has recorded a CD of Christmas music with the choir at Chelmsford and a debut recording of the Consort and men ‘This worldes joie’ was released in Autumn 2006. He is also Musical Director of the Braintree Choral Society and accompanist to the Waltham Singers. Robert also a keen improviser and composer and many of his works have been performed in the Cathedral and beyond.
